The Snowsports Sponsorship Program is the SSS’s primary program to offer local student’s the opportunity to learn a snowsport. Snowsports Sponsorships fund students to participate in their school-based (pay-to-play), 6-week winter ski program. The cost per student varies ($65-$116) depending on the school and ski area they attend and transportation. Each student is provided a lift ticket, group lesson and rental equipment (including helmet) once a week for six weeks beginning in January. Students are chaperoned by school personnel, parents and certified snowsports instructors. This snowsports opportunity is made possible through generous donations and grants. The program is designed to give North Country students a chance to learn a snow sport. Each winter children from all over New England ski and snowboard in northern New Hampshire. Unfortunately, rural poverty prevents a large number of local schoolchildren from ever having the opportunity to try skiing or snowboarding.
Please consider funding some fun, with a donation to put a student on the slopes! Thank you for your interest in the Secret Sock Society.
With funds received from our generous donors, the SSS was able to host Snowsports Field Trips from 2016 to 2020, which allowed us to send 512 fifth grade students to Cannon Mountain to try skiing and/or snowboarding through our program. These local students came from schools in Coos and Grafton counties in New Hampshire. Forty-five percent of students participating in the Snowsports Field Trip Program tried a snowsport for the very first time on a Snowsports Field Trip funded by the Secret Sock Society. Unfortunately, Covid 19 prevented the SSS from hosting Snowsports Field Trips after March 13, 2020.
